Gay Male Sex Parties

Some studies have found that people participating in such sex parties have a higher probability of acquiring sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS, by having unprotected sex with large numbers of sexual partners. For this reason, it is considered "a public health priority".[3]

A 2014 study found that one of the key reasons for taking drugs before and during sex was to boost sexual confidence and reduce feelings of self-doubt, regarding feelings of "internalised homophobia" from society, concerns about an HIV diagnosis, or "guilt related to having or desiring gay sex". A key self-confidence issue for study participants was "body image", a concern that was heightened by the focus on social networking apps on appearance, because on these apps, there is a focus on idealized male bodies that are "toned and muscular". Men were also anxious about their sexual performance, and as such, taking drugs can reduce these anxieties and enable them to enjoy sex more.[10][24]

The recreational use of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) has been relatively understudied, despite its popularity in gay communities. We examined the use of GHB in a sample of 450 club drug using gay and bisexual men. Of these, 29% indicated use of the substance in the recent past. GHB users were similar to those in the sample who reported no use along key demographic factors, although GHB users were more likely to identify as gay than bisexual and were slightly older. Poly-drug use was common, with close to half of GHB users combining with methamphetamine, MDMA, or ketamine; approximately one quarter also used GHB with alcohol. Participants reported that GHB was often used at nightclubs, circuit parties, sex parties, and sex clubs, with HIV-positive men more likely to use the substance in sexual contexts. Use of GHB is common among a certain subset of gay men despite warnings within the community about the potentially fatal effects of the substance, suggesting that more effort be given to educate drug using gay men about GHB.

Highly sexually active men who have sex with men (MSM) are a critical population in which to provide HIV prevention and education. To inform the tailoring and placement of such services, this study reports on HIV status differences in nine venues where 50 highly sexually active MSM (defined as those who had nine or more male partners in the past 90 days) met recent male sex partners. HIV-positive men (95%) were significantly more likely than HIV-negative/unknown status men (68%) to have used the Internet to meet partners but were less likely to meet partners in bars/clubs (37% vs. 71%). Although both HIV-positive and HIV-negative/unknown status men reported a sizable portion of their total partners from the Internet (55% and 29%, respectively), HIV-positive MSM also gravitated toward meeting partners through sexual networks (private sex parties and via other sex partners), whereas HIV-negative/unknown status also gravitated toward gay bars/clubs and public cruising. Overall, HIV-positive men were more likely to report unprotected anal sex than to HIV-negative/unknown status men. Among HIV-negative/unknown status men, the highest rates of unprotected sex were with men they met online (20% of online partners) and through other sex partners (25% of these partners). Efforts targeted toward highly sexually active HIV-negative/unknown status men might be best positioned online and in gay bars/clubs, whereas those tailored for highly sexually active HIV-positive men may consider targeting the Internet and peers/sexual networks.

It would be easy to attribute the loss of such lesbian spaces to COVID, but in Toronto, where I live, I can readily find event listings for parties for gay men and straight couples. Friends in other cities report the same.

At a time when human contact was meant to be confined to the Internet and Zoom, the only place to find anonymous sex was by going underground, through illicit parties, apartment orgies, or, if men were heeding the advice of the Canadian CDC, sucking anonymous dick through a wall. But by the time New York City reopened, several prominent gay nightlife venues, like the popular nightclub Therapy, had already closed for good. Suddenly, major gaps in nightlife needed to be filled.

We offer guides to 200+ cities worldwide and know the best gay bars, hotels, clubs, saunas, parties, beaches, and not-to-be-missed experiences. Plus films, fashion, pop culture, gay events, and much, much more.

NYseed, a NYC-based OnlyFans account that hosts sex parties for other gay OnlyFans content creators, told The Daily Beast that monkeypox has interrupted filming schedules as models follow prevention guidelines after exposure.

But more specifically, I was worried about monkeypox (MPX) making an appearance at IML, as I am concerned about it making its way through LGBTQ Pride events and circuit parties this month. Monkeypox has largely been found in Western and Central Africa in the last few decades. And while it is endemic there in rodents, several African countries have developed excellent public health practices to minimize outbreaks among humans, which Europeans and North Americans have largely neglected. African countries do not have an ample supply of stockpiled pharmaceutical vaccines and antiretrovirals. But, as Science reported, countries like Nigeria use the kinds of effective nonpharmaceutical interventions with MPX that the United States and Europe have largely eschewed with the novel coronavirus: putting the effort in to perform surveillance, helping affected people isolate, sequencing viruses to track spread and sharing their findings with others.

The Nazi regime carried out a campaign against male homosexuality and persecuted gay men between 1933 and 1945. As part of this campaign, the Nazi regime closed gay bars and meeting places, dissolved gay associations, and shuttered gay presses. The Nazi regime also arrested and tried tens of thousands of gay men using Paragraph 175 of the German criminal code. Uncovering the histories of gay men during the Nazi era was difficult for much of the twentieth century because of continued prejudice against same-sex sexuality and the postwar German enforcement of Paragraph 175.

The Nazi regime carried out a campaign against male homosexuality between 1933 and 1945. This campaign persecuted men who had sexual relations with other men. It is unclear how many of these men publicly or privately identified as gay or were part of gay communities and networks that had been established in Germany before the Nazi rise to power.

Among respondents, 47 YMSM (8.7 percent) had attended a sex party three months prior to assessment. Attendees reported that parties included both HIV-positive and -negative men; they also reported unprotected sex and limited access to condoms and lubricant.

Compared with those who did not attend sex parties, those who did reported significantly more lifetime and recent (last three months) casual sex partners, drug use (both in number of different drugs used and total lifetime use), psychosocial burden (history of partner violence and number of arrests), and total syndemic burden (a composite of unprotected anal sex, drug use, and psychosocial burden).

"These results indicate that while only a small percentage of the overall sample attended sex parties, the intersection of both individual risk factors coupled with risk factors engendered within the sex party environment itself has the potential to be a catalyst in the proliferation of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in urban settings," concluded the authors.

"Lastly, given that sex parties are different than other sex environments, commercial and public, with regard to how they are accessed, public health strategies may need to become more tailored in order to reach this potentially highly risky group."

A group of local villagers who have formed the Sea Palling Action Group are campaigning against sex parties at their old local pub. They have now been challenged by Pride groups and LGBTQ activists in the area.

Anyone can get and spread monkeypox, but most cases in the current outbreak are among gay, bisexual or other men who have sex with men. The Health Department in collaboration with NYC Health + Hospitals are already offering vaccine to people identified as close contacts to someone suspected or confirmed with monkeypox. The new vaccine clinic expands eligibility to all gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (cisgender or transgender) ages 18 and older who have had multiple or anonymous sex partners in the last 14 days. The Health Department has issued guidance for eligible adults considering vaccination so that they can better understand their personal level of risk. Men who have sex or other intimate contact with men they met through dating apps or social media platforms, or at clubs, raves, sex parties, saunas, or other large gatherings may be at higher risk of having been recently exposed. Appointments are recommended but limited walk-ins will be accepted. Make an appointment at nyc.gov/health/monkeypox. 041b061a72
